This series has been designed to help shine some light on the ever mysterious myth of sound technology integration. Outlined will be strategies, general ideas, and examples. The goal would be to create a step by step guide for others to replicate in their classroom or district. Take note that much of these posts are based on my ideas and values and may not match the ability levels of everyone.

This post will outline my plan for the first 100 days of school. You should also note that I am writing a book outlining this 100 day plan in much greater detail. Keep an eye out for a link. Each day you should spend in a building of your assignment. Communicate with every staff member whenever possible and try to drop in on everyone at least once a month just to talk. The numbered list below represents each day in the 100 day plan.
  1. Communicate your title to ALL staff you will be working with. Provide them a short background of your skills, but ensure that they know your name, and how to reach you!
  2. Create a tech integration survey to use as a feedback loop. Determine where everyone is at, how they like to learn, where they want to go this year, and what they value.
  3. Communicate the tech integration survey with the stakeholders you work with. It would be a good idea to approve this with your building administrators beforehand.
  4. Analyze the results of the tech integration survey. Group like minded goals, learning styles, starting points, or values. Take time and be mindful, this is a very important step in moving forward!
  5. It's Friday, celebrate the innovators you work with and communicate their successes via newsletter, LMS communication, or simply though social media. Empowerment is the theme of today.
  6. Create a PD feedback survey to determine the effectiveness of your work. Make sure you include feedback on your electronic help along with PD you offer both individually, and whole group. This is the driver of your work, so make it personal, and effective.
  7. Communicate the PD feedback survey with other like minded specialists. If you have a team of tech integrationists, this would be a great opportunity, but keep in mind that your role should not focus on just tech. Share with curriculum, assessment, intervention, or peer coaches groups as well.
  8. Planning day. Spend today communicating, planning, and scheduling out professional development opportunities for the groups you created on day 4 for the next three weeks. Make it a goal to help at least 3 people per day; one before school, one during prep, and one after school. You will start day 11! That is early, but start small. 15 minute snippets for staff based on their goals is perfectly fine.
  9. Build day. Begin the creation of your PD days. Keep one thing at the center, PD is not about how good your slides look, it's about what others get out of it. Be flexible, build check ins, and most importantly, keep learning at the center!
  10. It's Friday, celebrate the innovators you work with and communicate their successes via newsletter, LMS communication, or simply though social media. Empowerment is the theme of today.
  11. Implementation week. Begin your PD lessons today. Again, you should make it a goal to help at least 3 people today! THIS IS KEY: Send them your PD feedback survey you created on day 6 no later than 4 hours after the session!

  26. Analysis day. Look closely at the work you have been doing. The PD feedback survey will give you a great feel about where you are at, how you are helping people, and how effective you are being. NEGATIVE FEEDBACK REQUIRES A CHANGE!
  27. Trim down your tech integration survey to just allow stakeholders to communicate their goals, and any changes to learning styles. Communicate this again with staff today.
  28. Combine the results from your original tech integration survey, with the trimmed tech integration survey. You should just be adding their second goal, and shifting any learning styles. Make any changes to groups you need to do. Do not be selfish or feel bad about any changes, your goal is to get everyone learning.
  29. Planning and build day. Prepare to help one additional person for the next three weeks.

  100. You did it! The last day is here on your successful start. You have worked very hard to build this, and proper maintenance is key. Continue to have three week check ins with your staff members and make changes to your grouping as needed. In all, you have helped 241 people (some will be repeated), and held teachers to writing 5 different goals.
